Question:

why are the new england patriots called the patriots and not some other name

I understand how they got there name but just because they moved doesnt make any sense there has to be backround knowledge. why are they called the new england patriots. Why werent they called the british or the germans. It doesnt make any sense. There has to be more then one reason to there name.
