Tell me the names of the closest friends of Marilyn. Her personal life was just another mystery and I have no clue about her close friends.

Sadly, Marilyns closest friends were often people she employed in some fashion, with a few notable exeptions.
Her early live was so miserable, as she spend her childhood in orphanage. During her early years in show business Marilyn had few friends, she really attach herself to powerful male individuals that could further her career.
Natasha Lytess, her acting coach was her first close friend. Then she became part of a Photographer Milton Greenes family for a very short time. After that her acting coaches Lee and Paula Strasberg were her friends. Again, all paid by Marilyn. A notable exeption was maybe Norman Rosten and his wife Hedda, people Marilyn befriended thru her then husband, Arthur Miller.
Marilyn had rarely women friends. But often she attached herself to elderly women, as a sort of mother figure. Many people over the years have claimed to have been Marilyns closest friend, none more shamelessly than Robert Slatzer. Beware, because he was a total con-man that made a nice living of his self-invented association to Marilyn.
Toward the end Marilyns closest friend was Pat Newcomb. But, as usual, she was also on the payroll. At this time Marilyn also hung around with drinking buddies like Frank Sinatra and his pack, and of course, the Kennedys.
At the time Marilyn was close to fellow actor Peter Lawford and his wife. Toward the end of her life Marilyn was surrounded by her hairdressers, make-up man, wardrobe people, acting coaches, secretaries, publicity people, etc.
She and her half-sister Berniece were united again just a year before her death. I can only think of one person that was Marilyns closest friend that wanted very little from her and truly cared for her and that was Joe DiMaggio.
