I have same problem with bright spots steadily proliferating.  Had one, now have 18, seems to be building expotentially.  Set is a Toshiba 65HM167 DLP (Projection)..  Now about 4 years old (12/11).

Called Toshiba, not their problem, out of warranty reply.  Talked to TV repair people, said it would cost $85.00  just to come out and diagnose the problem.  Doesn't seem repairable by anyone local, but would be glad to charge me I'm sure just to come out and tell me that.  Said something about the "light engine" might be a problem.  Doesn't seem to be in the internal electronics, more likely burnout on the screen?  Will not be buying anymore Toshiba products.

While surfing the net looking for additional information on "Faulty" Toshiba DLP TV Lamps, I came across the following website: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/03/class-action-se/ that has information about a recent SETTLEMENT for people who bought certain Toshiba models.  It's worth a try!

Sony is also taking care of their customers - free of charge - no matter how long you've had the television.  They said it was a defect, and they're taking care of repairs.

I also have the same problem whit dots spreading like a disease. Can you tell me how to file a complaint and where to file? Does anyone know how to repair this?

I am having same issue. Read somewhere its the light engine failing. Cost = bout $600. Looked all over toshiba website but found nothing on problem. Samsung is replacing for customers due to class action lawsuit. Maybe Toshiba is keeping quite.

Same problem same answer from Toshiba, I will file a complain with the BBB but I do not know what good that will do.

That's weird because Samsung is famous for ignoring issues like this. huh. Same problem with mine. I"ve seen elsewhere a diagnosis of "Bad DMM chip in light engine" or something close to that.

I have the same model, same problem. Less than 3 years old. The exact same problem all over the internet about Samsung, Sony, Mitsubishi DLP tv's. It seems to be a common problem with DLP chip technology. I contacted Toshiba, huh, out of warranty? Out of luck they say. Customer service really said that, " good luck with your problem. Samsung is taking care of customers, free of charge. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I will update my progress.
