Question:

tire size and cupping

Hi

I recently purchased a 95 GMC Suburban and there is a lot of tire noise coming from the left front tire. My husband thinks it is cupped because in the middle of the tread there are high spots and low spots. It does need an alignment. However the inner and outer of the tire is not really warn. Any help here would be great. Also, I am interested in replacing the tires and wanted to know the biggest tire I could put on the stock Suburban 1500 SLT 4x4.

Thanks!

    Hello

Cupping - more properly called irregular wear - is caused by misalignment and aggravated by insufficient inflation pressure and insufficient rotation practices. Remember, misalignment can cause a lot of problems for your car and even becomes dangerous in some situations.

But, I am sorry, in order to answer your question about tire size, I need to know how big the fender wells are on your vehicle. The folks that measure that sort of thing think the information gives them a competitive advantage, so they do not share. I guess this is the most awful thing for people like you who have less knowledge about wheels. Still there are a lot of things you can do.

I suggest you contact Discount Tire or Tire Rack. They both do those sorts of measurements. It will be more helpful than consulting online, because accurate measurement can only be taken from tire rack. i hope you can understand it very well.

    Thanks
