   The Sunshine Coast is one of famous coastal region of Australia present in South East Queensland, north of the Queensland capital of Brisbane. The total number of population is approximately 312,804 with up to an additional 50,000 in visitors and seasonal workers. On 15 March 2008, the former Councils of Noosa Shire, Maroochy Shire and Caloundra City consolidated in order to form the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. The Sunshine Coast is covered by the Pacific Ocean in the east, and stretches to the local government boundaries beyond the Blackall Range to the west. Normally, the towns of Gympie, which is 30 minutes' drive north of Noosa Heads, and Caboolture, 30 mins drive south of Caloundra, have been added in a broader line of the Sunshine Coast region. The Nambour Hospital is one of the region's main hospitals and dealt to over 35,000 cases in 2005. There are smaller hospitals situated in Caloundra & Maleny, but due to few facilities options at those hospitals, many cases are referred to Nambour Hospital, thus leading to overcrowding & under-staffing at Nambour Hospital. Queensland Health Minister Paul Lucas earlier proposed for a new public hospital to be formed in the area of Kawana, to be called the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in 2014, however, the projected fulfillment date has now been extended to 2016. Many private hospitals exist throughout the area, many notably the 'Sunshine Coast Private Hospital' at Buderim, Caloundra Private Hospital at Caloundra, Selangor Hospital at Nambour, the recently formed Kawana Private Hospital, and smaller facilities at Noosa.
