QUESTION: computer has xp home on it self built with sp2, when turn on now it says to load setup disc, i can not even start and hit f8 key to get it to turn on to safe mode any ideas how to fix this or correct it, thanks for your time and help

ANSWER: hi john, sorry for the delay in answering. work has been unusually busy lately.

well u could always put in the set up disc like it wants ;) otherwise i'm going to need some more info before i can help u out bro. when did this start happening? did the computer ever run windows or has it done this since u finished the build? if u previously had xp installed and then this started u can put in the xp install disc and go through the installation process until u get to the repair option. if no repair option is available then ur windows install is corrupt.

good luck,

QUESTION: this system was installed and been running on this cpu for the last 4 yrs, now when you go to reinstall and format the big blue windows comes up and you cannot even see the bottom of screen to see which f key to hit to get it to move forward. something tells me the motherboard has went. seeing the message to load start disc you cannot load it as it gives error message saying something is corrupt and loading this will damage system.

You got virus well dats just normal but if that's rootkit or badsector then its thing to worry about but ure win error seems to be file directory corruption by some virus get a cd get ure pc life back n make image of ure fresh install windows with norton ghost it will save h**l lot of time in installation :)

As the computer is not going further from BIOS,and it is not reading from the Hard Disk, then you have to start your computer repairing from the BIOS.It means your Hard Disk is not responding to any command you give, because all the files are corrupted on the Hard Disk.In this case the only option is to Format the Hard Disk from BIOS and then you can start the setup of Windows XP from the bootable CD and install Windows.
