I have been looking for several tires for snow, ice and slippery conditions. What do you think about Nokian tires and how would you rate them against others. I need a car for my 16 year old son. He has been in one accident slipping on fresh slippery snow. I would like to buy a car from the mid 1990s. Which one would you recommend for handling and stopping especially in wet, snowy, icy conditions? I am looking to pay from $2,000 to $5,000 for something with around 110,000 miles? I have searched around the market in my area but did not the right one. I am still confused with the choice of the car. I am looking for some expert opinion on this. Can someone here tell give me any good suggestion? I would really appreciate the favor. Thanks in advance.

Hey there, you could put 1000 a piece Michelins on the car, but we have both been 16 before and know how we used to drive. So really it comes down what is a good tire at a good price. Nokian tires are independent tire brand. They are ok compared to others of relative quality. I would stick with BF Goodrich Traction T/A’s and call it a day. 2-5000 for a car for a 16 year old can get a lot of car for the $$ if he takes care of it. Hope you can make the right choice now. Best of luck
