   Hi, The clear waterproofing I was referring to is made by a company called, Minwax. If you live in the United States, you should be able to find their waterbased and petroleum based polyurethane at just about any hardware store. I think that your idea for "gluing the Plexiglass in the lid" should work but I have some concerns about condensation occurring inside the box during sudden temperature changes
