Hi. I have a Hitachi DVD/VCR Combo, Model DV-PF33U. The DVD player has stopped working. Tray still opens & closes. None of the gears appear to be damaged. No other mechanical parts broken, no loose peices found in case. The circut boards look good, nothing visably burnt, shorted, or buldging and nothing blown. When I put in a DVD/CD it says load & tries, then after awhile comes up with a disc error. The disc spins & the laser turns on intermittently. Tried a lens cleaner no avail. Failed reading DVDs. It read a computer burnt music CD briefly during troubleshooting, now I have nothing at all. I do not know if it came with any of the tiny o-ring belts but I do not see any reminants of any inside of the player anywhere, nor do I see any remaining on any of the gears. The player also works my Tv, so I would like to repair the DVD player if possible. Does anyone have any troubleshooting recommendations or suggestions? I have a mechanical background but This is my first attempt at DVD player repair. Thanks!!!
