   Copyright is a special system of fix set of exclusive rights which are given to the creator of an original work. In these rights creator have the authority to copy, distribute and adapt the work according to his need and likeness. But on the same time copyright do not guard ideas, as it only protect their expression. In many jurisdictions copyright develops upon fixation and have no need to be registered. Copyright owners have the exclusive statutory authority to practice control over copying and other misuse of the works for a fix period of time, after which the work enter into the public domain. Uses covered under limitations and exceptions to copyright, for instance fair use, do not require acceptance from the copyright owner. All other uses need permission. Copyright owners can transfer their right permanently or for some specific period of time to others.
   Earlier the copyright rules practiced to only the copying of books. But with the passage of time other uses such as translations and derivative works were made subject to copyright. Copyright now covers a vast range of works, including maps, sheet music, dramatic works, paintings, photographs, architectural drawings, sound recordings, motion pictures and different computer programs.
   In recent times copyright laws are partially standardized through international agreements, for example the Berne Convention and the WIPO Copyright Treaty. However there are variations among nations' copyright laws, each jurisdiction has individual and distinct laws and regulations covering copyright. Although the National copyright laws on licensing still differ greatly between countries and copyrighted works are licensed on a territorial basis.
