constitution day 2009 is constitution still being followed. In the ever-changing world of law; constitution was the building block of a great country but is it still the same? Do people still have the same rights and is it still innocent until proven guilty?

Jefferson wrote, "Our peculiar security lies in the form of a written Constitution, let us not make it a blank piece of paper by construction." It is a common sentiment that you will hear, or probably already have that, the Constitution is a document that can mold with the future time and generations. It can, but its unwise to do so. The Constitution lays out guidlines and principles for our nation to follow, and so to interpret that differently or to add things, makes it a country the founders did not intend to exist or want. The Constitution's only legitimate power source is from the people. If the people do not hold their government accountable to the rules of American governance, found within the Constitution, then it is the people's responsibilty to make sure it is followed. If the government decides what to do based on what it thinks the Constitution says, and the people do nothing, then who is to stop them? No one. The Constitution is still followed, but it has been manipulated and interpreted in horrific ways to justify governmental actions or initiatives that go against the very principles and foundations that made the Constitution in the first place.
