Classic movie dance sequence.

I can't remember the name of the movie or dancer but it was around the same era as Judy Garland. There is a scene where the dancer hops like a kangaroo around the small town for about 5 minutes without a break in the scene. Could you tell me the movie and actor/dancers name?

    An American in Paris is a movie which was released in the year 1951, it is a musical film by George Gershwin. The cast members of the movie were Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron and Oscar Levant. The film was was shooted in Paris. The director of the movie was Vincente Minnelli and the script was written by Alan Jay Lerner. The additional Music was composed by Saul Chaplin. The story of the movie revolves around dances and music which are also the stronghold of the movie. Milo later learns that Jerry is not interested in her and also realizes that Lisa is in love with him but marries Henri next day.
