I think there was dancing in it and a great comedy bullfight as an act. The girl falls in love with the owner i think and he was the dancer. Does that help? I saw a picture in the 50s and was crazy about it. I wish I knew the name of it. I remember a lake with Chinese lanterns. I think a girls camp across from it, it was very romantic. I know this is not much to go by but do you recall any movies like this at that time?
Can you remember any of the plot or one of the actors or actresses? About that time there were a lot of movies made that would fit what you have described. There were not than many male dancers that made many movies. I am thinking Gene Kelly, of course and Fred there was also Dan Daily, an tall male dancer and leading man, and Gene Nelson, and Gower Champion. The main female musical stars were. Betty Grable, Rita Hayworth, but most of their movies were made in the 40s, and Jane Powell, Doris Day, June Haver,Cyd Charisse. Marge champion.
Was it a period costume picture, or were they in modern day dress? Was the girl a guest at the camp, or maybe a counselor there? I am thinking if there was a camp across the lake, it must have been about them vacationing there, and maybe a show put on at the camp or something like that. I still dont have something to start searching with the vacation resort/camp etc was a pretty popular theme. That plot sounds like a Doris Day, Jane Powell, or Marge Champion movie, but Marge and Gower champion were usually in movies with others as the main stars.

I think it was Marjorie Morningstar. The girl was Natalie wood. She was an aspiring actress. and this was the summer stock company she went to work with. It was also sad, a bit. she had to deal with a lot of rejection. Another one Gene Kelly was in was Summer Stock with Judy Garland. They were a summer stock company putting on a show in Just Garland's barn, on her farm. I looked on moviesunlimited.com and Summer Stock isn't listed in Gene Kelley's movies. Marjorie Morningstar is though. You can buy it there is you want it. I buy quite a few movies from them, and have always been satisfied with my dealings with them. The Chinese lanterns and lake sound more like Marjorie Morningstar. I only saw that one once, when it came out in 58. I saw Summer Stock a bunch of times, and it has no bull fight in it. I think Gene Kelly was the director of the summer stock company. I don't think he danced as much in Marjorie Morningstar as in his other films.
