YouTube Gets Its Own Short URLs but are they really short. Short URL's are very popular especially on the social websites such as twitter etc. and there are companies that have done very well. just to quickly explain it; lets say you have a very long url these companies will provide an alternative to that url which is very short so you can post that short url on the internet; when people click on that it will still take you to your site. its basically a forwarding url which sits in the middle of the clicker and your site. since social sites such as twitter only allows you to post in 140 characters including the url, these short url companies become very popular. Youtube decided to develop it internally but their is still fairly long. i'm sure they will work at it to make it even smaller.
