Yamaha waverunner 1200 (milennium edition) wont start - help!!!

I've not used or started it for nearly a year. When I last used it, it was fine. It has plenty of fresh fuel. It cranks over just fine but there is no spark. Are there any simple checks to find out what the problem may be? Could it be related to the kill switch as it won't even crank over when removed. (obviously the kill switch is clippedopen when I'm trying to start it! But I have a speed boat that cuts the ignition when the clip is released)

Any help would be much appreciated!
