in order to forward the ports for my xbox 360 ( so my NAT type becomes open, not strict) i have to give the router a server ip. I put in my xbox 360s ip and this did not work, it said "server ip address must be a LAN ip address) so then i went onto the xbox and assigned a static IP. which i set to 192.168.1.200, i set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the gateway to my routers ip address which is 192.168.1.1, but then when i tested the connection it wouldnt connect at all, however i can forward the ports successfully to 192.168.1.200. I have found that the only way to get it to conect is by setting the gateway and ip to end in x*x.x*x.0.x which isnt my routers ip as this ends in .1.1 . my router wont let me forward ports to ips that end in .0.xx, it says "the server ip must be a lan ip" so in order to forward the ports i have to have a ip on my xbox that wont let it connect! What could be the problem? please help. I have my xbox connected into my pc with an ethernet and my pc has a wireless adaptor, the router is downstairs. the router is a netgear WGT624v3. HELP PLEASE ;)
