Thousands of jobs in the UK will be effected as a result of windfall taxes on North Sea Oil producers. The 2 billion tax will fund a fuel duty cut, after a surge in global prices. He increased the supplementary charge on oil and gas production to raise an extra £2bn ($3.3bn) - but said if oil prices fell, the "fuel duty escalator" - which increased fuel tax above inflation - would be reintroduced and the new oil tax would fall. There will be a disaster for both Oil Production and jobs, as both of them will be lost, and Uk will have to import oil. Many companies from abroad are looking at whether to invest in the UK, to help us get the new oil and gas reserves out of our waters. What we see is that image yet again shattered because of the tax change."
