Well you've got to be more specific than that. I like lots of different music and bands but most women like to dance so they tend to lean toward types of music that's dance friendly.

Metallica, for example, is a great band but not much good for dancing.

Most girls who say they like metal actually listen to metalcore, hair metal and nu metal. Three genres which are far too bastardized with hardcore, pop and rap to actually be called true metal.

My tastes are Doom, Black, Folk, Power, and Symphonic.

You're just not talking to the right women. If you see a woman wearing a metal shirt? Go for it in a non-obnoxious way.

It has been reported that Amon Amarth shows have lots of women there... and women tend to attend folk metal shows in larger numbers.

Or you can go to a shudder Dragonforce show.... or Ozzfest. Something mainstream.

I happen to be a die-hard metal fan who happens to be female. I found it difficult to find a boyfriend who likes metal, but I finally did. He's great (even if he does like cheesy power metal and calls everything with harsh vocals 'black metal').

I'm not really sure I could date a non-metal person (shallow as that sounds) because it's a lot of who I am at this juncture. I need someone who won't tell me to 'turn that crap down' and will understand (at least a little) this 'metal mentality'.

Part of it might also be that, in many cultures, it's completely unacceptable for women to express anger. Whereas men are shipped off to prisons for expressing anger, women are sent to mental hospitals. It's not considered a normal state for a woman to be angry. It's considered a lot more 'normal' for men.

hey I love metal music but I guess most girls dont because men evolved to be more agressive than women are.

I'm not into it - sorry. I like some Metallica (Master of Puppets)and Van Halen(David Lee Roth) (OLD STUFF) but I am not into most of it.

I absolutely LOVE metal. I dress very femininely, but I always have a Metallica song blasting in my iPod! I'm a huge Metallica fan, myself. I also really like System of a Down, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, etc. And I hate the top 40 sort of music as well.

It's a bit of a stretch to call it talentless, I'm sure they'd say the same about metal.

There's some great metal out there, but there is a LOT of junk too. Before I answer this question to a seeming metal fan, let me ask you this question so I can gauge your judgment of "talent"....

Most modern music like hip hop etc is rubbish. You would have to give me an example of good metal music, I am not familiar with the genre.

I personally only listen to THE DOORS, 60's mod psychdelia etcetc

I agree with you a hundred percent! I hate the majority of rap. I like music like avenged sevenfold and saliva, coheed and cambria, chivelle, tool, all that remains, sevendust, mudvayne, slipnot, black label society, and many many more. I also love classic rock like jimi hendrix, boston, crosby stills nash, america, led zeppelin, pink floyd, rolling stones, the who, and many many more.

I have always been a metal fan. Have you never been to a metal/rock concert and seen the crowd of male AND female fans? It's nuts and a crazy good time!

I think a lot has to do with personal taste on behalf of the beholder.....I know a lot of men who don't like metal too! Don't blame just women!

THATS CRAZY well to me and my friends atleast... we only listen to scremo and metal music lol... i think that Rihanna is like for really girlygirls... lol (this is just my opinion)

Not interested in the music or message of metal or hip-hop crap music as you defined it.

Oh, are you kidding me! I love metal music. And so does my friend. I listin to like everything except music like hip-hop,rap, that kind of stuff. my best friend too.

I like good goth, myself. Typo O Negative, Sisters of Mercy, old Ministry, the Cult...you know the type.

And I still have a soft spot for prog rock: Rush, ELP, Yes, Floyd.

Pop music is all crap...agreed. I know plenty of women who don't listen to pop music. You don't say how old you are and how old the women you date are. That may be a factor. Stay away from the "bubblegum" aged girls.

Metal makes my heart skip irratically and I think I'm going to die. Plus it kills my ability to hear.

I just don't like the sound of most metal music. I do like some just not the hardcore stuff. I think hip hop beats sound better. Everyone has different opinions.

I like metal, but I'm not open about it because most people don't even know what real metal is. I don't want to explain that linkin park isn't metal.

Maybe you do know some women that are into metal. You just don't know it. I only mention my metal tastes when someone else is a fellow metal fan.

Otherwise, it's not necessary.

Priscilla- I get told all of the time that I don't look like someone who listens to metal, because I wear pink and yellow. You're far from right. You don't have to look a certain way to be into metal.

I also like mainstream stuff too, but I have a huge spot for all kinds of metal.

Metal is about being who you are and saying "** it." You don't have to conform to a certain norm.

I'm a 14 year old female and I love metal...female metalheads aren't that rare but you just have to look a little deeper.

I listen to it all, and I love death metal too, which is why I disagree with the first answerer. There's so much talented bands in that genre she's obviously not looking.

I listen to everything from Iron Maiden to Gorgoroth, pretty much all metal rules!

I appreciate metal.. I just can't stand sh1t metal... like I enjoy Killswitch Engage, System ... bands like that .. Death Metal is just a damn joke though.
