I think it is better to first understand the meaning of the two important words used in this question, Advertisements and products, before moving on.
An advertisement is known to be a paid announcement, as of goods for sale, in newspapers or magazines, on radio or television, etc or in other words we can say the action of making generally known; a calling to the attention of the public.
Products are defined as the totality of goods or services that a company makes available. It can also be defined as a thing produced by labor: products of farm and factory. The word product stems from the verb produce. Products can be tangible and intangible as well.
I personally think that companies should not misguide the people through there advertisements. It is not ethical and action should be taken against them. It will send a message that people will not be allowed to rip other peoples off their money. But this does not mean that companies do not follow this practice but we need to understand and grasp the concept that there is a thin line between highlighting the good points of thing and lying about it.

I think advertisements lie about there products because they think they can sell it in better numbers this way.
