This is complete stereotyping. How can you judge an entire nation at once? No one (I repeat no-one) has the right to judge a group or for that matter, speak for a group. This is one of the first few lessons children learn in grade school - do not stereotype because its dangerous and also "speak for yourself" - meaning no one person in america or europe can say "we" hate so and so for this or that reason...you only have 1 opinion whether you like it or not and this is all god gave you.
I think americans hate the "stereotype" of europeans and not actually the individuals themselves. Meaning - arrogant, quirky, under-fed, high self esteem based on nothing, smelly, etc. At least this is what we hear from the vacationers lol!! (joke). Obviously, no matter where you go, everyone is an individual anyhow - stereotypes are nooooo good lol.
Seriously though - I think its because of severe cultural differences that have been internalized by individuals on both sides - quite a few europeans aren't too fond of americans either. Its important to be careful here too - you can't judge an individual by their countries' culture because people are separate from their environment. Judging mass poplulations (out of fear or for whatever reason) using generalizations and then applying that to each individual you meet is called STEREOTYPING. Isn't this what europeans, asians, and whoever also do when they see american culture thru media sources and then think "stupid american"...it's the culture NOT the individuals.

Does anyone like anyone? Do Brits care much for the continental Europeans and the EU,or vice versa? Are the old sores between the Brits and French still oozing even after their countless competive wars against each other? Of course they are, to a degree. How about Eastern Europe and Western Europe? Are they all buddy-buddy as us yanks say? Of course not. Every nation has its irrational stereotypes and prejudices.
The complaints I have on elements of European culture and government are analgous to my issues with my own country's culture and government.
This is way more exaggerated than reality. I haven't met many Americans who talk shit on French. Maybe one or two. I don't hate em. I live in America and I don't hear much shit talking about other countries here. Every now and then you get an old hick talking about Iraq etc, but I see more America bashing on any European forum than i see Americans bashing all other countries combined in my whole life. The freedom fries thing was a Bush invention. Americans didn't care about it. We even made fun of it. We don't call them freedom fries unless we're joking. Yes, some don't like your health care, and it is closer to socialism than a government where the health care isn't free. It's just a fact, not an insult. I would rather our health care be like that, and so would a lot of Americans. Fear of other types of governments is widespread in the older 40 and up generation, but younger people want Canada's government, for instance.
Americans hate everyone; either you are with them or against them and even when you are with them, when they don't need you anymore you are against them. look at Canada, always supported america but soft lumber industry in canada is suffering because the big brother did not get what they wanted.
They hate brits and everyone else around because brits have royals that they can be proud of. American royals consist of Modanna, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears,and that Kardashian chick. As you can see. Less than stellar icons. it's not hate but jealousy and without any shame.

I'm an american and I hate Europeans. I hate the countries, the people, and most of all the corrupt leadership. The great fear in America is the possiblity that someday European leadership may in fact influence American leadership. That will be the second revolution. I the meantime I hate Europe because it refuses to take any form of responsibility for any conflict it creates.

I hate to hear that some feel that away. I actually envy the fact that most countries in the EU value life and health. That they refuse to let corporations profit from the illness of their people. I would love to flee to France, England, or other nations like them like Canada if only I could afford it.

Could I point out that in UK we don't get free Health Care as every tax payer contributes through their salary for Health Care so its not free.
It means that when we go to hospital or clinic we don't get presented with a bill for treatment but its definitely not free.

Many people can slag one another off from the distance but wouldn't do it to the persons face. and i really don't see there being that much dislike between the two countries. In fact when i have visited the US i got nothing but help and kindness.
add to that, the American friends who have come to UK to work or just visit always get a warm welcome.

I am I Canadian and I love Europeans, they are so friendly, and have great accents. I plan on moving to Paris, France when I'm older. I am also an admirer of European countries. I apologize for some Americans, some of them can be quite arrogant.

Americans do like the Irish,the british,the dutch and the Scandinavians.The problem is that a lot of emotional dislike of America is voiced by other European countries,the americans are getting a bit tired of the hatred.France/Italy/Greece and Germany are always turning their nose up.America has a slight inferiority complex with Europe's rich cultural heritage and learning,but we in Europe are resentful of the wealth achieved by America in 200 years,without the need for high education and culture.This takes the mickey out of Europe as it's never been able to achieve financially what America has achieved.It's a good combination Europe and America.l am british and American but l always use cool reasoning rather than hot headed American bashing
We don't hate Europeans.. We just don't like Europeans telling us how we should run our country and be more European. Our founders left Europe and designed America to be different and most of us like it that way.
We also don't like being called bullies and warmongers especially when most of the conflicts we have got into are for Europe because the majority of European nations are too spineless to do it themselves.

to the person who said most the conflicts youve been involved in were because of europe i think you need to check your geography. last time i checked korea, vietnam and iraq were all outside of europe. and wasnt a hell of a lot of americas contribution to worl war 2 focused in the pacific theatre anyway?
