I have my question regarding the term Hero. This word has been always used to describe someone who is brave, courageous and a positive character, the protagonist. However, I would like to know that when this word actually came into existence and for whom was it used for the very first time in the history of mankind?

Generally speaking, the word Hero is the name given to or is rather used for someone who plays or has played a leading role in doing something. It can be a leading role in a story, novel, play and a movie. The first thing which comes to the mind when the word Hero goes pass the sight is a positive character. In Greek mythology and folklore, was originally a Demigod, their cult being one of the most distinctive features of ancient Greek religion. Later, hero (male) and heroine (female) came to refer to characters who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self sacrifice for some greater good of all humanity. This is actually the definition of heroism, originally referred to martial courage or excellence but extended to more general moral excellence. We do often get to have such situations that there are certain hard times and ups and downs in life. The one who bravely faces all the hardships and fights miseries and goes on to be a winner at the end is referred to as a Hero.
