It is said that when Alexander travelled to South Asia, approaching over the Jhelum and Mianwali region, Khewra Salt Mines were discovered. The breakthrough of the mines, although, was not made by Alexander neither his "allies", but by his horse. It is asserted that when Alexander's armed detachment halted here for rest, the equines begun l*****g the stones. One of his fighters took observe of it and when he savoured the rock pebble, it was brackish therefore premier to the breakthrough of the mines. Afterwards this mine was wholly bought by a localized Raja and from that era to Independence of Pakistan this mine stayed house of in the local area living Janjua Rajas who were children of Raja Mal.
