   The whole concept of appropriate advertising is a welcome relief but only if it is understood. I'm currently serving a software development company that specializes in Agile software development, basically a programming on the run without too much documentation. Think of all the trouble we can get in to with contextually inappropriate search results about how agile people can be!
   
   having the data and understanding are two differnet things, i first have to understand the meaning of semantic bofore i can findout how it can help me.

   So the point of semantic Web is to give marketers more (ultimately meaningless) metrics to justify the same old approaches?
   
   But at least semantic web will know exactly what kind of p**n I like best. this could be really good.

   Semantic is not just about improving the consumer experience. And it isn't some industry ploy to sell you more services. The next-generation web -- the semantic web -- aims to solve some of today's biggest problems in marketing.
   
   So what is it? Well, semantics refers to the meaning behind data. Right now, computers are good at sending data back and forth but not great at discerning the meaning of that data. Semantic web aims to change that. Perhaps it's best explained in describing what marketers can hope to gain from it.

   The next evolution of the web will be very interesting as system based intelligence will begin to take over. The key though, will still be human intelligence to ensure that the instructions for the systems based stuff are correct.
