Derek Longmuir works at a nursing dwelling in Edinburgh. The Bay City Rollers were Scottish burst musicians who were most well liked in the 1970s. The British Hit Singles and Albums documented that they were "tartan teen feelings from Edinburgh", and were "the first of numerous actions proclaimed as the 'Biggest Group since The Beatles' and one of the most screamed-at teeny-bopper actions of the 1970s". For a somewhat short but fervent time span (nicknamed "Rollermania"), they were worldwide teen idols. The group's line-up boasted many alterations over the years, but the classic line-up throughout its heyday encompassed guitarists Eric Faulkner and Stuart Wood, vocalist Les McKeown, bassist Alan Longmuir, and drummer Derek Longmuir. Bassist Alan Longmuir, his junior male sibling Derek Longmuir, a drummer, along with school ally, lead vocalist Gordon "Nobby" Clark based the assembly in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1966, as The Saxons. Shortly after, they chose a new title discovered at random by throwing a dart at a chart of the United States. It set down beside the community of Bay City, Michigan. The Bay City Rollers were organised from early on by Tam Paton, himself a previous large-scale band leader.[citation needed] Short-term constituents from this time span encompassed David Paton (member 1969-1970) and Billy Lyall (member 1969-1971), who went on to be origin constituents of another thriving Edinburgh band, Pilot.
