I have a question regarding an abbreviation. The abbreviation I happen to have seen used many times but it has represented different words at the same time. It often creates a lot of misunderstanding resulting in certain errors. Keeping all this in view I would want to know that what does the abbreviation PW actually stand for?

This is absolutely right that the abbreviation PW keeps on making so many confusions which often end up in certain misunderstandings and other errors. Nevertheless, the abbreviation PW often stands for Pacific Western (a bus company based outside Toronto, Canada), Piggly Wiggly (a U.S supermarket chain), Pratt & Whitney (an aircraft engine manufacturer), Pennywise (an American punk band), Perfect World (a 3D MMORPG game developed by Beijing Perfect World), Persistent World (a term used in online role-playing games), Peter Wiggin (a character in the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card), Philadelphia Weekly (a tabloid newspaper), Phoenix Wright (a game), Petawatt (a unit of power), Pennyweight (a small unit of mass), Picowatt (a unit used for measuring noise levels, commonly abbreviated pW), Pauly-Wissowa (a German encyclopedia of classical scholarship), Publishers Weekly (a magazine covering the book publishing industry), Palau (an island nation in the Pacific Ocean; Palau's postal abbreviation is PW), Puerto Williams (a port on Tierra del Fuego), Prince of Wales Secondary School (a school in Vancouver, BC), Politechnika Warszawska (the Warsaw University of Technology, in Poland), Professional Wrestling (in sports) and Pseudo-wire (an emulation of a native service over a Packet Switched Network). Besides, there are some other uses as well, thus not limited in anyway.
