What are the causes of High Blood Pressure?

I am looking for some of the causes of High Blood pressure, so that I can stay away from this disease, can you tell me about the factors that contribute to this disease?

    In general the major causes of hypertension are the following:

    • Hectic and stress filled life style
    • Unhealthy food habits
    • Obesity
    • Excessive consumption of liquors
    • Smoking
    • Over consumption of tea/coffee
    • Insufficient rest and sleep
    • Metabolic disorders
    • Hardening of the arteries
    • Excessive use of pain killers and other strong medicines
    • Genetic disorders
    • Over consumption of oily food and fast food
    • High salt intake
    • Emotional and Physical stress
    • Family history of hypertension

    Blood Pressure is caused by the force of the blood which is produced by the heart and also the size and condition of the arteries.
    There are many factors which affect blood pressure, which include:
    How much water and salt that is present in your body
    The condition of your kidneys, nervous system, or the blood vessels.
    The levels of different body hormones .
    The High blood pressure can affect different types of people. You are in the great risk of high blood pressure if you have a family history of this disease. High blood pressure is now much more common in the African Americans than Caucasians, Smoking, Obesity, and diabetes and all the risk factors for the hypertension.
    Most of the time there is no such cause which is identified. This is known as essential hypertension.
    If the High Blood Pressure results from a specific condition, habit or medication then it is known as hypertension. In case there is too much salt in your diet then it can lead to high blood pressure. Due to this reason Secondary Hypertension might also be the result of

    Anxiety and Stress

    Coarctation of the arota
