Australia is such a large country; its weather varies significantly in different parts of the continent. Australian weather is unique in that the average maximum temperature falls within a narrow range. It is generally a very dry place, so summers can get much hotter. The pattern of rainfall is also distinct. Some places have abundant rain at one time of the year and almost none at other times. Summer falls in the months of December to February, autumn in March to May, winters in June to August and spring season is in September to November. In Sydney for instance, the average maximum temperature goes from 16°C (60°F) in winter to 26°C (78°F) in summer. The average minimum temperature is from 8°C (46°F) to 18.5°C (65°F).
