The golf pro was competing in the U.S. Open when Elin was hospitalized with complications towards the end of her first pregnancy. "We talked all the time," Woods said of those tense days while he was competing. "Everything was all right. I mean, it wasn't life-threatening or anything, but she just had a few problems and had to be admitted…. It was not easy because I wanted to be there.” Their daughter, Sam, was born just hours after Tiger came second in the tournament, but despite declaring that fatherhood was “far more important than any game of golf,” just three months later, he missed Sam’s baptism in Sweden, claiming he was committed to attend a charity event in L.A.
While in Australia in April this year (at the same time as he was reported to have been meeting with alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel), Tiger told the Herald Sun newspaper: “Having kids is the most important thing in your life. It puts a totally different perspective on your life, making sure you raise your kids as best as you possibly can. When you hit a bad shot and you come home and you have a bad round, it puts it in perspective when you have kids. It’s really not that bad. No matter how bad your day was on the course, it’s not that bad when you come home.” But, we can only wonder, how this very private couple feels after their recent really bad day at home.
