Vacation Pay. My husband just turned his 2 weeks notice to go to a better job he asked his boss

My husband just turned his 2 weeks notice to go to a better job he asked his boss about collecting his vacation pay that is due to him, He told him he didn't image he would pay him for it. His boss got mad when he told him he was leaving because he is a good hand. We think the only reason he will not pay it is because of that. Another guy took his vacation then turned in his notice. They told him he wouldn't get paid for it because of the way he went about it. We just want to know what the law is about this.
