Tomos Targa moped : little lever next to chocke switch

On the right hand side of the bike (when you are sitting down), there is a little lever that can be either ON or OFF, it is just next to the Choke switch. Can anyone tell me what that is for ??

    it turns the fuel on and off. it should also have a position that says reserve, labeled ( RES)

    turn off when bike is not being used, on position when running and when it starts to sputter (run out of gas) turn it to reserve (RES) and it should get you to the next gas station before you run out of gas.
