everything i've read suggests they're a species of 'springtail'... harmless, drawn to moisture and decaying vegetable matter. keep area dry and clean.

hi there, Springtails do jump when disturbed so I suspect that this what they are. They are harmless. Mites cannot jump and some can bite. They may or may not be breeding in the drain but treat the drains anyway. They have no problem getting drains to windows They will also breed in almost any damp area. This is why I suggested that you spray around crevices and floorboards. It is possible they are coming in from the outside through closed windows if they are small enough. Do you live where it is warm weather or where it is a cold winter like we have in Ohio. If it is cold they are breeding in the house. bye

The bugs I have in my kitchen showed up about 4 days ago. They are brown and have wings. I thought they were gnats, but I have nothing in my house that would really attract them. They are drawn to vinegar and maple syrup, are not bothered by foggers and I can't get rid of them. What the h**l are these things?
