I think The Simpsons is best because The Simpsons’ is longest running animated comedy show on American Television and The Simpsons basically revolves around the Simpson family and the problems that they generally get into.

The earlier Simpsons were so good, but the more recent episodes are not as funny. Although Family Guy is a bit of a copy of The Simpsons, I'd say its better overall.
Family Guy - it is edgier these days. But there would never be Family Guy if the Simpsons hadn't paved the way.

Overall the Simpsons, today, Family Guy. The Simpsons has a good episode now and then, but the new ones don't compare to the episodes from the middle of the show's run.
I love them both, but The Simpsons hasn't been as funny lately as it used to be.. and Family Guy is a riot

Simpsons definiantly. Matt Groening invented this humor and characters. It actually has real stories and the longest run of consectively good episodes and it always has new jokes (only seasons 3-12). Don't get me wrong I love Family guy but its nothng compared to simpsons
