I started ballerina and quit when I was almost 14. I am planning to start again, after almost 7 years and am taking a teen beginners class. Please tell me how long it will take to get back into the full swing and could you give me a few tips to improve my general technique in strengthening exercises for holding extensions like arabesques and develops.

Thanks so much in advance :)

If you have started fresh in ballerina after a long time you need to focus on your basic technique and try not to rush into things all at one time because it will all come back in good time. I know it is frustrating to get started again, but do not rush things, especially with your extensions.
It is by far much better to work with low extensions that are correctly placed for a while than it is to go for the big ones with off placement and lifted hips. If you are slow and consistent with your technique and placement, the extensions will be there soon enough.
Extensions are improved by working on them in class, under supervision from your teacher, and some stretching, like splits, after barre or after the class. These stretches need to be done when you are warmed up.
You should not feel silly about working with low extensions and often times professionals can lift only one leg over 90 degrees. Placement is what's important. The height of the leg does not matter if the technique is wrong. Work hard at the barre, it's the most important. Focus on your plie/releve and centering and have fun with ballerina.
