Symbol MC9090 constant xwait problems with the AS/400. How do we stop repeated long xwaits?

Symbol MC9090 constant xwait problems with the AS/400. We have ajusted all our network and telnet setting on the I series. They still get 10 to 30 minute xwaits. How do I fix this?
