Surf boards on Emirates airline?
Emirates airline has the following take on surf boards. For surf boards, the following precautions must be taken:
Fins should always be removed, or, if they cannot be removed, should be firmly packed with polystyrene foam.
Both nose and tail should have bubble-wrap or neoprene foam attached for protection.
The rails (sides of the board) should have cardboard down the sides to absorb shock.
The board should be packed in a properly padded surf-bag.
Items up to 400 cm (13 feet) in length may be accepted in exceptional cases, provided detailed information is forwarded to Emirates Airport Services Head Office and Emirates SkyCargo in Dubai at least 7 working days prior to travel of such a passenger. Items exceeding above limit must be referred to Emirates SkyCargo.
Please contact your local Emirates office for details. If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, normal excess charges apply.
