I am 16 years old, and I want to go to a summer dance intensive this summer, but I am having trouble finding the right one. I am OK in ballet, I have been studying Pointe for almost a year now and I am on two modern dance companies. I live in the New England area and can easily get to NYC. I am not the best dancer ever, but I know that the big schools like ABT and SAB will not accept me. I am looking for a smaller school, but I cannot seem to find anything in the Northeast. If I could be suggested names of some good Schools that will be appreciated.

The best person for this suggestion to be honest will be your dance teacher or teachers. They would probably be knowing of some schools or programs and must have received feedback from other students about summer programs. Besides, if you have not asked some of the other volunteers at this site, you should. Some of the volunteers in the Ballet section are dancers, like Erika and Mandy. Also, over at the Dance section, Casey knows a lot about dance from the perspective of a student. There is the parent site to all experts called www.about.com, which is monitored by dance professionals. There are several online dance and ballet discussion sites on the internet. Bruce Marriot's site www.ballet.co.uk is pretty comprehensive and though it is mostly about ballet as a performing art, there is a section to post questions about dance. Also, at www.criticaldance.com, there are several discussion forums that are good for students. Tons of people in the dance community read this site.
