Hi there, I have a 2001 Citroen xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI. Citroen recommends 185/65 R15 88H,Would it be ok to use Pirelli P 2500 Euro all season tires with an 88T speed capability instead. As I have no intentions of doing 130miles an hour. A friend recommends me these tires for this speed. I have never tried anything like that before and looking for some expert opinion on this. What would you recommend for this? Should I go for these tires in order to achieve this speed? Can someone help me in this? I would really appreciate the favor. Thanks in advance for the time.

In my opinion, this is not a good move.

1) One of the things that come along with speed rating is handling. So you will be changing the handling characteristics of the vehicle in a negative way.

2) I have always been told to "overdesign / underutilize". This would be reducing the utilization part of the equation in a negative way. There must have been a reason Citroen specified H speed rated tires and I am not in a position to understand everything about why they did it, so I will defer to their expertise. You should make a choice by consulting to the company’s workshop or any good tire dealer in your area. Every car has his own tire specs in order to increase the speed. You have to look in to the aspect of breaks and road grip of the car. I think this will make you to have a good choice for the tires. Best of luck
