   There are different types of guitars , but there are two broader categories and they are characterized as acoustic and electric:
   First there is acoustic guitar and it has many uses and it is used in different types of music and is mostly popular for the music such as flat, folk, and the acoustic guitar is further divided into two categories such as flamenco guitars. Acoustic guitars are also named as unamplified guitars because they can be played anywhere anytime and does not require any power or electric requirement.
   There are Renaissance and Baroque guitars which are mostly known as ancestors classical guitars. They are smaller and more delicate as compared to the classical guitar. Due to their structure their sound structure is also very different from others and they produce very soft sound and quiet sound.
   After electric guitars came classical guitars, they somewhat resemble to the guitar that we are using today. They are played with the fingers and also they are played in the seated position.
   Some of the other famous guitar types are

   Flamenco guitars
   Flat top guitars
   Archtop guitars
   Selmer guitars
   Resonator or Dobro guitars

   Then there are electric guitars which have a solid and hollow structure and they produce little sound without too much force. Their strength lies in the Electronic devices which they are attached to, because the current is provided through electricity, therefore the slight touch or vibration to the chord can cause enormous effect. They are used by the some of classical and modern day bands. They are also mostly used by the rock and metal bands and are vey useful in creating the distortion effect.
