Severe Itching

For the past couple of months my husband has had severe itching he has never had any health or skin problems we've been to his Dr. but he told him he could have been having an allergic reaction so he stopped his depression medicine but he still itches he itches on his back, stomach , and legs but mainly on his buttocks area and the creases of his legs its driving him crazy we have tried creams, lotions & bath stuff does anyone know what this could be?
