Russell Peters to host the Juno awards. Russell Peters, host of The 2008 Juno Awards (airing from Calgary’s Pengrowth Saddledome on April 6), has a strategy to survive the biggest night in Canadian music.
“There’ll be some stuff planned out,” he says. “We’ve got [comedians] Kristeen Von Hagen and Trevor Boris working on the show. They’re both good friends of mine and know me pretty well – but I really do like to come up with stuff on the spot and feed off both the audience and whoever I’m interacting with onstage.
“I like to keep it loose and have a good time.”
Now in his late 30s, Peters sauntered into the spotlight when CTV aired his 2003 Comedy Now! stand-up special, which was posted anonymously on the Internet and along with other clips have accumulated more than 7 million views on YouTube.
