The genre is probably drama/romance and I believe is in TechniColor. The main characters are an older man and a younger woman, who the older man falls in love with. The man is some kind of architect or engineer and travels overseas and is involved in the construction of dams. While on a trip, he bumps into a young couple (male/female) on a train. Some time passes and again, he bumps into her on a train, except this time, she is alone. The two hook up and travel some together and fall in love. He seems to be uncertain what he wants to do but apparently decides not to deviate from the relationship.. I remember the couple in a truck when they are going back into town to get her some medical attention. When this happens, the mother figures out that the father and daughter are having a relationship and while the daughter is recuperating the mother keeps the father and daughter apart. The daughter dies, apparently from a broken heart and never finds out that she fell in love and had a relationship with her father.
