Replaced head gasket still not working

I have a 96 camaro. We replaced the head gasket. I also had the heads resurfaced and checked for cracks. My brother did the work and broke a bolt for the exhaust manifold. He is coming to fix this today. He keeps telling me that I have to do several oil changes to get the oil out and that is why the car is still running rough. Is this true or is there something else wrong. PLEASE HELP
