I hate to say it, but like so many other couples I've spoken to who are in a similar situation, the harsh reality is that you probably can't able to afford to walk away now. And the reason I feel I can be so blunt, is that I'm not sure that splitting up the family is what you really want. I understand that you both must be feeling frightened, especially given your predicament but there's absolutely no doubt that the loss of a job plays havoc on a marriage. But it doesn't have to destroy it. Be brave. Be proactive. The lirst step towards alleviating your stress will be by learning to support each other - emotionally and practically. Ask family members to help out with the kids, so you can start talking.
