Radio in 1988 Nissan 300ZX. the green tape light is on but cant insert tape. radio turns on,

the green tape light is on but cant insert tape. radio turns on, antenna goes up but no sound comes out of the radio. any help?

    Hi there. here are the steps to check and repair the problem. Take the radio out and check the power feed to it. If there is switched power and constant power for the radio presets you have found the problem. I would not have thought that the radio power board could be blown but that is what this is sounding like. It is either that or the power switch. If you or someone you know is comfortable with electronics you can take the radio case a part and trace the power input circuit for an open. There is an internal fuse on this board that can be blown and that would be my guess unless the power button is defective. Hope it will help THANKS
