Problems with fuel when starting

I have a 1997 Chevy K1500 and it will not start until you poor gas in the throtle body, Runs fine after cranking but as soon as you turn off you have to repeat the process. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter adn the fuel pump is only a couple years old.
