Powre 832 alarm system battery doesn't charge up..after a power failure

The other night we had a power failuyre and now the system is acting crazy, audiblke alarm comes on by itself battery doesn't seem to chare..

    I have a Mod600 HOME Alarm which I think is a DSC1500 alarm. Recently the trouble light went on and we were informed it was a low battery, the battery has been changed but it still has the trouble light on and the 1 lights up when I press *2. HOw long should it take the replacement battery to recharge? The system is under a year old.
