    both felt the traditional beliefs and value systems of Western civilization had collapsed or lost their persuasive power. modernism focuses more on the individual, where the individual is uninfluenced by the outside and sometimes very egotistical. self-reliance is a major element found in modernism. hope i helped a little, even though i only said two topics lol.
