Lisa,My daughter is 12 years old and has been taking ballet, tap and jazz for the past 9 years. She has been passed over for pointe class for the past two years while most of her classmates have made it. According to her teacher, it's due to the fact that she doesn't point her toe past her ankle. She has been working hard on this and has shown much improvement. Do you know of any exercises she could do to help with this? She loves ballet and wants  desperately to get on pointe. Any advise you can give would be much appreciated.Thank you

Your daughter is just twelve years old and pointe work if taken in a young age can result in to harmful injuries. Therefore i would advice you to talk to her teacher, and ask her to focus on your daughter's other areas that will lead to strong pointe dancing. Most teachers don't start pointe dancing until the pupils turn 12, and your daughter has been doing it for past 2 years. She has alot of time to improve her pointe work, so its better not to pressurize her unnecassarily.
