Picture is not "full screen"

I had Directv installed yesterday. I starting getting a large black box on the bottom 1/3 of the screen. I was advised by Dierectv it was the captioning on the TV itself. I manually turned it off. Now I have a gray bar both the bottom and the top of the screen. The picture is not full screen. Any ideas? My televison is a 32in ILO
