Hi, You might try tipping the unit from side to side and see if you hear anything shaking around inside. Turn it all the way over and listen for a loose DVD. Sometimes these things can get stuck and then strange things happen to the unit. If it is only 6 months old, it may well still be in warranty. If so, you should contact Panasonic and get information about a local servicer to correct the failure. If out of warranty, it may well be worth spending the cost of repairs since a new one will cost about $300. Get an estimate first in this case. I always advise against buying these so called Home Theater systems with a built-in DVD player for just the reason you are asking about. A failure of the DVD mechanism fails the entire unit. If you have to replace it, buy a surround sound system without the DVD player and get a cheap one from Sams or Wally World. If it breaks (and it will!!) just chunk it and get another DVD player not a complete system--far cheaper.
